  • ADHD stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with functioning or development.

  • Common therapies for ADHD include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, psychoeducation. These therapies can help manage symptoms and improve functioning (oftentimes in conjunction with ADHD medication, prescribed by your doctor), and I utilize them consistently with my clients.

  • If symptoms of ADHD are causing significant difficulties in daily life, school, work, or relationships, it may be time to seek intervention, whether that’s through medication, therapy, or a combination of medication and therapy.

  • Our first therapy session typically involves an assessment where I will gather information about your symptoms, medical history, and any challenges faced. I will go over any ADHD-specific assessments I send with your intake paperwork at that session, along with assessments related to commonly co-occurring issues (e.g., anxiety), so that we can create a tailored treatment plan for you.

  • Yes, absolutely! ADHD can persist into adulthood. Many adults with ADHD may have been undiagnosed as children (especially women, who frequently get misdiagnosed or their diagnosis is just missed) and can benefit from therapy and other interventions to manage their symptoms.

  • Yes, ADHD often coexists with other conditions such as anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and oppositional defiant disorder. It's important to address all coexisting conditions in therapy.
